Tungsten Gold Wedding Rings for Men
The name tungsten does not sound as glamorous as gold, or even silver maybe. But this, too, is a rare metal and tungsten gold wedding bands for men are by no means an apology for gold. Even women whose careers involve regular use of their hands prefer tungsten rings to the traditional gold ones. tungsten rings are made of tungsten carbide, which gets produced by mixing tungsten with carbon and nickel at very high temperatures. This is necessary as pure tungsten is rather soft, despite its strength and durability as an element. Tungsten carbide, on the other hand, is the hardest of all tungsten compounds. The natural color of tungsten carbide is grey. Wedding bands made of tungsten carbide, however, come in many colors and gold is one of them. Though black tungsten wedding rings are becoming popular among trendy young couples, tungsten gold rings still remain the most preferred. The reason is simple, really: they combine the tradition of gold wedding bands with the durability of tungsten. Gold tungsten rings are made of tungsten coated with 18 karat gold.

The price difference
Tungsten gold wedding bands are many times cheaper than traditional gold bands or white gold wedding mens tungsten wedding bands. The cost of gold is over US$1000 per ounce. A bit of internet research informed me that the average price for a white or yellow gold wedding band for men would be about $600. I did a fair amount of internet search to check the price of tungsten gold wedding rings for men and the average price is about $200.

Types of finish
There are many different ways to make rings look different and varying types of finish is one of them. This is especially important for tungsten gold rings for men as they involve a plating of gold. The shiny and reflective finish is certainly the most common one, but there is also a satin finish which is as smooth to touch as the polished one. The difference is that it is not reflective because it is not as shiny. Another form of non-shiny finish is the brush finish, which is different in its texture: as if it has been finished with a wire brush. The wire brushed finish makes this texture even more visible. One of the currently trending finishes is the hammered finish, which gives the ring a dimpled look with a satin finish. Another emergent style is the sand brush finish, which gives the ring a coarse look with a gritty feel.

One word of caution
It is best not to go for ultra cheap tungsten gold wedding bands for men. They might contain cobalt, which is not good for the skin.
